Please join us for our Welcome Coffees, held on the second Wednesday of each month.  Our coffees provide the opportunity for both old and new members to get together and to socialize. This is a great way to get acquainted and make new connections.  Our coffees feature occasional guest speakers on a variety of interesting and informative topics.  

Book Club

If you enjoy reading and discussing books from an array of genres and authors, this is the group for you!   This is a great way to add diversity to your reading list and to share your reading experience.  Many book selections are chosen from the New York Times Bestsellers list. The group meets monthly at various locations.



bRIDGE group

Tricks, ruffs, doubles, and contracts.  Is this familiar language to you?  Those of you who love to play bridge are definitely in the right place.  WCANNC welcomes bridge players of all levels.  So many of our members enjoy this popular game that you will surely find women to play at your level, no matter what that might be.


bunko

Anyone can play and will enjoy this rousing dice game! No experience needed. Gatherings are held one evening a month in the home of a member.  If you only want to play once in a while, you can be added to the list of substitutes. Come join us!


Community Outreach

Our members volunteer in a variety of ways to support local charitable organizations. Past activities have included making Easter baskets for children in need, working with Bay Area Crisis Nursery, and many other worthy causes. If you are passionate about making a difference in our community, this is the group for you.


FOODIES

Foodies meet monthly in the home of a member for themed pot luck luncheons.   Our goal is to share recipes and food experiences with fellow foodies. The hostess selects the theme and recipes and the attendees each bring a dish.  Themes in the past have included Mardi Gras,  Irish Surf & Turf,  A New England Feast, Fruitful Bounty, and many other fun and inspiring themes. This group boasts numerous great cooks and food connoisseurs!  


Games Group

Looking for a lively way to spend the afternoon?  Become a Gamer! The Games Group meets monthly at various locations for an afternoon of games. Types of games that we play include Mexican Train, Dominoes, Rummikub, Sequence, or your favorite board game. Come join us!


Hand CRAFTERS GROUP

This is a  group for those who like to stitch, be it knitting, crochet, needlepoint, cross stitch, etc.  If you don’t know how but want to learn,  please join us while we share what we love to create.   Bring your projects along, we will stitch, talk, plan and share.



Dusty Boots HIKING Group

Love to hike? Join us for easy-to-moderate hikes at local East Bay parks. Our hikes are generally two or more miles in length, an hour or more in duration, and involve some elevation. Hiking boots or shoes may be recommended for some locations. Join us as we explore the outdoor beauty of the East Bay!


Luncheons

Once a month, luncheons are organized at area restaurants.  These dining out experiences offer a fun time and the opportunity to experience the diversity of cuisines that Walnut Creek and the Diablo Valley have to offer.  Our two big luncheons of the year are the Founder's Day Luncheon in October and the Installation Luncheon in May.


Mah jongg

The Mah Jongg group came about as a suggestion from members who wanted to learn how to play this ancient and enjoyable pastime.  Members enjoy the benefit of free lessons, and opportunities to play in a stress-free, friendly and supportive environment, while learning the nuances of the game.  We now have multiple Mah Jongg groups, including American and Chinese Mah Jongg. We are always open to new players, and we play for the enjoyment of the game and for the friendship.


meditation group

Take a pause from life and join us in meditating together. We will be guided in live and recorded meditations, practicing breathing exercises, and enjoying each other's company. Join us and learn and experience the many benefits of mediation. All levels are welcome!


Movies/documentaries GROUP

The Movies/Documentaries Group meets monthly to attend a movie, followed by lively discussion.  Several times a year, the group meets at the home of a member to view and discuss a documentary.  If you enjoy films accompanied by stimulating and interesting discussions, you will enjoy this group.


potluck group

Monthly potluck get-together to have fun and exchange food and recipes.  No need to be an expert chef or baker to join.  A theme will be selected such as tailgating food, cookie exchange, soup for a cold day, etc.  Join us for lively conversation and camaraderie while enjoying tasty treats.



Spirited Ladies

Spirited Ladies meet at a restaurant or bar for beverages of your choice and noshing. It’s a fun get-together to socialize and enjoy good conversations with friends in an outdoor setting whenever possible. We meet once a month in the late afternoon.



 Summer social

In June, we invite our husbands, partners or other guests, and gather for an afternoon in the park with BBQ, bocce ball, and bunches of fun!


Walk and Talk

Several times a month, this group meets for organized walks.  Keeping in mind the diverse levels of fitness of all of our members, we organize walks that everyone will enjoy.  We are fortunate that our community maintains so many beautiful open spaces and we take advantage of all that our community has to offer.  If you would like to improve or maintain your fitness while exploring the natural beauty of  Walnut Creek and its surroundings, consider joining this group.


writers group

Do you like to write? Do you want to tell your story? Make sense of your life? Reflect on current issues? Create fictional characters? Write just for fun? You can choose a genre of your choice: memoir/short fiction/auto-fiction/essay/poetry. We can use a prompt to get you started or you can choose your own topic. Come explore our Writers Group!

Couples Game Night (On Hiatus)

This games group is for couples. The hosting couple will select the game to be played. It will be a game that can be learned quickly and played by all like Bunco, Mexican Train Dominoes, Skipbo, Hand and Foot, etc. This is a great way to meet other couples and have some fun! Please join us!


granny-nanny play group (on Hiatus)

Are you a granny-nanny?  Do you love your grandchild(ren), but crave some adult interaction?  This is the group for you.  The group meets  at local libraries for story time, followed by outdoor play in a nearby park, weather permitting.  This provides the children with the opportunity to socialize with playmates and the grannies provide support for one another.
