Book:  A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler

Pulitzer-prize winning author Anne Tyler tells the story of a multi-generational family dealing with the deteriorating health of aging parents. In telling the story of this ordinary middle-class family over four generations, the author explores the perfections and imperfections of family life, its joys and sorrows. It is a very humane novel, sometimes funny, sometimes wrenching, and often bittersweet.

Alamo Cemetery Tour

Alamo Cemetery Tour

Join us for a docent-led tour of the historic Alamo Cemetery. The Alamo cemetery in Danville has some of the oldest pioneer families buried within its grounds, dating back to 1856. We have arranged for several docents from the Museum of the San Ramon Valley to provide us with a private group tour of the grounds of this historic and picturesque cemetery, and if we are lucky, the docents may just dress up as the ghosts of the pioneers and tell you their life stories! The tour will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will last approximately one hour. The Museum requests a $5 donation per person. The cemetery is laid out on a steep incline, so be advised that there will be some uphill walking and stairs involved in our tour. Following the tour, we plan to have lunch at Revel Kitchen & Bar, located at 331 Hartz Avenue in Danville.

Kickoff Brunch - Crystyl Ranch Clubhouse

Our annual Kickoff Brunch, hosted by our Board members, will be held on Wednesday, September 11th at 11:00 am at the Crystyl Ranch Clubhouse.

This year, the brunch will be catered by Sunrise Bistro. In the past, our board members cooked all the food, set up the room, and cleaned up afterward. In order to relieve the board members of part of this hard work, the brunch will be catered this year by Sunrise Bistro. To offset the cost of having the event catered, attendees will be charged a nominal fee of $15 to attend. The caterers need to have an accurate headcount several weeks ahead of the event, so we must receive all RSVPs and checks by August 23. There is limited seating due to the size of the Crystyl Ranch Clubhouse. Your 2018-2019 WCANNC directory will be available for pickup at this event.
